JustTip is a contactless tipping platform, designed to give hospitality workers a boost in their tips. With cash becoming less common, hospitality workers often miss out on hard-earned gratuities when customers don’t have any spare change.
JustTip is not intended to replace cash tips, but to supplement them; The customer leaves a tip using their card or phone and it gets directly to your bank account weekly. You will also be able to access weekly reports for your share of tips, creating a more transparent tipping process for you and your co-workers.
Here’s how the JustTip process works:
The customer leaves a tip
The customer leaves a tip using our terminals or qr codes. Whether the business you work for uses Fixed, Flex, or QR Codes, you’ll still receive your tips in the same way. Your business admin (often your manager or business owner) will talk to your team about the device that your business is using, and how it works. For more information on our different solutions, see here.
Tips are Pooled
Your business admin will have created a central JustTip account for your location. Tips that are left by customers through JustTip are pooled into this account. Any tips left separately to JustTip (e.g cash or through the till system) are not included in this pool, and will not be paid out to you with your JustTip tips.
Tips are split
Your business admin is responsible for uploading a weekly roster, and tips are split according to hours worked. This approach ensures that staff are receiving a fair proportion of the business’s gratuities. If you believe you have received the wrong amount, chat to your business admin to make sure that your hours were logged correctly.
Tips are paid out
Once the tips are split, we pay out your share directly to your bank account weekly. If you want to see reports for your tips, you can log onto your JustTip employee account and access reports for your weekly tips. Please note: you are not able to see how much other employees have made, only the business total pool of tips and your share of the amount.
What are the Irish laws relating to tips?
Under the Payment of Wages (Tips and Gratuities) Act 2022 (see here), your rights to your tips are protected. The business that you work for should have a tipping policy, explaining how tips are collected, divided and distributed. You also have the right to access reports for your tips- these are available through your JustTip employee dashboard.
